The Girls Can! Career Exploration Conference has been sponsored by AAUW (American Association of University Women) in Las Cruces for 20+ years. This event is held during a Saturday each spring for 6th grade girls throughout Doña Ana County. Its purpose is to inspire dreams through workshops offered by women who are willing to share information about their careers. This event also allows girls to learn more about careers they may not have considered pursuing otherwise.

These workshops include introductions to veterinary medicine, US Border Patrol, art, dentistry, medicine, nursing, costume design, biology, performing arts, engineering and much more! AMWA members at Burrell College participate each year by providing an introduction to osteopathic medicine, showing off our doctor tools, discussing the many careers options available to doctors, and we discuss the steps that it takes to become a medical doctor.
